President John Mahama may be considering another shot at the presidency in 2020, Deputy Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament-elect for the Yapei-Kusawgu constituency in the Greater Accra Region, John Jinapor has hinted.

Mr Mahama became the first incumbent president since 1992 to have lost a bid for a consecutive second term in office after results from Wednesday's general elections declared by the Electoral Commission on Friday showed that his opponent, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had polled over one million votes more than him.

Though an unwanted record, it gives him the chance to contest again if he so wishes and according to Mr Jinapor, this may happen as the president is bent on reorganising the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after their resounding defeat in which they also lost about 50 parliamentary seats to the NPP.

Speaking, on Joy FM's Newsfile on Saturday, he said "I can tell you for a fact that the president's pre-occupation now will be to ‘re-organise’ the party” for the next general election.
