Black Stars captain Andre Ayew is a doubt for AFCON 2021 game against Gabon after missing training on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old sustained a head injury after crashing with a Morocco defender in the closing stages of the game. He had six stitches following the injury.

Ayew revealed that he was unwell for two days before the Black Stars lost their first game of the tournament to Morocco on Monday.

"I've not been feeling well for the past two days, but I wanted to play, he said.

“My colleagues wanted me on the field so I did everything to be there.

Black Stars will take on Gabon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé on Friday, January 14 2022 in their next fixture.

Black Stars will aim is to secure all three points after their stuttering start. This encounter could possibly propel Gabon into the next stage of the competition if they beat Ghana.

However, it’s all or nothing for Ghana as they need a win to stand a chance to qualify to the round 16th stage of the competition.
