South African referee Daniel Bennett has been sidelined by the Confideraton of African Football(CAF) and will not officiate the Champions League second leg Semi-final between Nady Al Ahly and Etoile du Sahel after his errors in the World Cup qualifier between Uganda and Ghana in Kampala.

Bennett was originally appointed to officiate the crunch game but has now been relieved of that duty after his abysmal performance in the World Cup qualifier between Uganda and Ghana.

Referee Bennett and assistant denied Ghana a perfect goal in the 93rd minute with television replay showing that it was a perfect goal.

The referee also denied Ghana a penalty earlier in the second half when Ghana midfielder Frank Acheampong was brought down in the penalty area of the Ugandans .

The Ghana Football Association have reported the referee to FIFA for his horrendous display.

Bennett has however been replaced by fellow South African referee Victor Gomes to take charge of the tie on October 22nd.
