The elders say one has to go to the gods at least three times to expect a favourable endowment from them on the third try.

And in Akufo-Addo’s case, his third attempt at occupying the Flagstaff House could be his last shot, given his advancement in age and rumours about his health coupled with Dr. Bawumia coming in his own as well as good old Alan Kyerematen bidding his time to reign.

True in 2008, when he made his first attempt at the presidency where many observers reckon he stood the best chance against an ailing John Mills, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential aspirant lost out on the seat thanks to what some perceive was a brash show of power and abuse of incumbency.

In 2008, with power wielded by President Kufuor, Akufo-Addo’s campaign attracted entertainers and celebrities of all shades and colour. Persons who were not noted for their partisanship boldly came out of their shell mounting the NPP platforms and singing the praise of Nana Addo all for a nice cash package allegedly.

Daddy Lumba secured a juicy contract and produced ‘Nana Oye Winner’, Great Ampong, Wutah and Evangelist Asamoah all jumped on the Nana bandwagon but in three rounds of election, Nana Addo was felled by good old Prof. Mills.

In 2012, a face-off with Dramani Mahama who had captained the Ghana ship when mills kissed death also ended in defeat for Nana Addo.

In 2016, another bout is on but interestingly entertainers are aligning themselves to the various camps with such verve as not seen in a while.

The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC), Dramani Mahama is enjoying keen support from celebrities and popular figures who mention him as one whose poise and exploits has attracted them to the NDC.

13 celebrities including John Dumelo, Clement Bonney aka Mr. Beautiful, comic actor Kwame Dzokoto, Abeiku Santana, Henry Harding alias Pattington Papa Nii Papafio, Michael Kwaku Ola, Jewel Ackah, Mzbel, Tracey Boakye, Gloria Kani, Sylvester Agyapong, Asare Bediako and Selassie Ibrahim have vowed to canvass votes so President Mahama retains his seat after the December 7, polls.

For Nana Addo whose cash chest has taken a dent thanks to being in opposition for 8 years, some faithful popular people have stretched their necks out and declared support for the NPP leader.

Swiftly, Nana Addo has welcomed such bold persons to his residence at Nima mischievously labeled ‘Nima Flagstaff House’ by NDC functionaries. You just have to declare support for the former Attorney General, do a song or express dissatisfaction with the current government and Nana Addo will avail himself to welcome you to the family.

Matilda Asare, Agya Koo, Socrate Sarfo, Praye Tintin and Praye Tieta, Lucky Mensah, Wisa Greid, Dada KD, Kwabena Kwabena, Barima Sidney, Leo Mensah, Daddy Lumba, Nana Quame, Andy Dosty and Cwesi Oteng all believe a Nana Akufo-Addo presidency will better serve the interests of the country and after December 7, the moment of truth will emerge as to whose gamble paid off.
