The results of 1,873 candidates who took the private WASSCE have been withheld by the West African Examination Council.
The candidates are alleged to have been indulged in various examination malpractices, a statement by WAEC confirmed.
According to WAEC, 117,306 candidates sat for the 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Exam(WASSCE) for private candidates.
WAEC advised candidates to be cautious of activities of fraudsters who contact candidates with the promise of improving their results for a fee payable through mobile money transfers.
The statement assured that the council's results database is well secured.
"As such all forged results can be detected by the confirmation/verification system.
"Institutions and organizations are advised to confirm or verify results presented to them directly from the council or access the confirmation/verification service online at the WAEC website," it added.
Meanwhile, the examination body has promised to release the rest of the results once investigations into the reported malpractices are concluded.
