A raging fire that is believed to have started at a wooden kiosk that was being used as a residence by squatters spread into a nearby compound house, razing down six rooms and their contents.
According to the Public Relations Office of the Ghana National Fire Service, the loss caused by the fire at a community in Agogo in the Ashanti Region runs into thousands of Ghana cedis.
“The fire severely raged down the six bedroom compound house and its entire contents including home appliances, personal effects, clothes, furniture, etc running into several thousands of cedis,” the GNFS said about the fire that hit on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
The Service has also said an investigation has been launched to the actual cause of the fire and into reports that firefighters were attacked by some youth in the town.

Undesired fires continue to ravage lives and properties despite the phenomenal public fire safety precautionary measures churned out by the Ghana National Fire Service.
The Ashanti Region has been hit with some life threatening fires since the beginning of this year largely due to, the non-adherence to basic fire safety and precautionary measures by the general public.
One of such fires which is believed to have started at about 1630 hours was reported on Saturday, 22nd January, 2022. The Konongo Fire Station received the fire call at 1702 hours that there was a fire outbreak involving a residence numbered 679 at Agogo Obuasi near Daasebre Guest House in the Asante Akim South Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
The appliance was dispatched and arrived at the fire scene at 1730 hours due to the bad road and long distance covered.
The Crew on arrival met the raging fire at an advanced stage. The fire had also engulfed the entire house and about spreading to other adjoining structures.
The Crew however faced some FIERCE RESISTANCE and VIOLENCE from some of the Youths in the community upon arrival which delayed firefighting.
The DRIVER of the appliance was also ATTACKED as a result of the riot. It took the intervention of some persons to calm tensions to allow firefighting to commence.
The Crew swiftly got to work despite the set back to bring the raging fire under control to the admiration of the onlookers and succeeded in completely putting out the fire at 1755 hours.

Eyewitness account suggests that the fire started from an adjourning wooden kiosk which was used for residential purposes by squatters and spread to the affected house razing it down.
Meanwhile investigation is still underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the cause of this fire.
The Service hereby CONDEMNS the ATTACK on its Firefighting Crew by the some irate youths of Agogo Obuasi and assures its personnel that the matter would be fully investigated to bring perpetrators to book.
