The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin, has been re-elected to lead the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislatures (CoSPAL) for a second consecutive term.
The election, held during the 2nd General Assembly of CoSPAL in Accra, extends his leadership for another year, reinforcing his role as a unifying figure among African legislative leaders.
In his opening address, Speaker Bagbin urged the gathered representatives from across the continent to adopt a united front in addressing Africa’s shared challenges.
Stressing the importance of collaboration, he highlighted key issues such as economic resilience, climate adaptation, and security threats, urging African parliaments to work together to forge solutions.
“We face common challenges and together we can work towards a better future for all Africans,” Speaker Bagbin stated.
He called on CoSPAL delegates to focus their discussions on the continent’s shared future, emphasising that Africa’s interconnected destiny requires cooperative legislative actions.
