Following government's decision to rename the Ho Technical University after the late Dr Ephraim Amu, Registrar for the institution, Dr. Christopher Amehoe says the renaming process has been put on hold following agitation from the traditional rulers in the area.

According to Dr.Amehoe, both parties are making efforts to come to a consensus on the matter.

Dr Amehoe said: “There are no fresh moves to change the name of the institution that I am aware of…We have sought to meet with the chiefs for some time now but we are both not finding a suitable time to meet over the matter and that’s why that meeting is still pending.

''But the chiefs are our fathers with whom we have enjoyed a very cordial relationship so if anything raises its ugly head, we’ll just have to meet with our fathers and settle it”.

On Monday February 11 2019, the Asogli Traditional Council in a press Conference addressed by Togbe Adzi Lakle Howusu the warlord of the Asogli state pointed out that they had picked intelligence that the governing council of the Ho Technical University was making fresh moves to change the name of the institution to Dr Ephraim Amu Technical University despite their disagreement.

The chiefs cautioned that any move to change the name of the institution without their approval will be met with stiff resistance.
