Ghana’s Second Lady Samira Bawumia has replied faultfinders over comments suggesting that her visit to the cast of popular Indian series TV Kumkum Bhagya endorses the Indian soap opera to the detriment of local movies.

The Second Lady in a Facebook post said the visit to the cast and the Indian movie industry was in the interest of the  Ghanaian movie and entertainment industry.

Samira Bawumia during her trip to India a few days ago visited the cast of the popular Indian series aired on Adom TV.

According to reports, she met and interacted with some of the cast.

A section of the Ghanaian public has criticized the move by the Second Lady by insinuating that the picture endorsed Indian soap opera to the detriment of local movies.

A local movie producer, Ola Kwaku Michael in a post riddled with sarcasm said "Have your say. But stop fighting Kumkum Bhagya. It's a lost battle! Well done 2nd lady. You are a great inspiration to the Ghana film industry."

However, Mrs Bawumia in her post said she visited the Indian entertainment industry to explore the possibilities of a collaboration with the budding Industry in Ghana for accelerated growth.
