Ghana Narcotics Control Board, NACOB, have arrested a Tanzanian woman, Basaida Zena Jafari, with 2.3kg of speed ball, a mixture of cocaine and heroin with street value of $70,000.
She was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) while going through the arrival formalities.
A statement from NACOB said: “Ms Zena Jafari, a food vendor in Tanzania arrived in Ghana recently at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Board Rwanda Air Flight number ET 200. She was busted while going through arrival formalities. A search conducted in her check in luggage revealed a concealment of two parcels in false compartment of her luggage.â€
According to the statement, the content of the parcel proved positive for narcotics substance during the preliminary testing conducted in her presence.
The suspected narcotic substance was further forwarded to the Ghana Standard Authority for confirmation which tested positive for narcotics weighing 2.3KG.

“Ms Zena on interrogation admitted ownership of the parcel and confessed that they were given to her by one Mandanje Omari in Tanzania to be delivered to someone in Accra for undisclosed amount of money.â€
Ms Zena was later arraigned before court, she pleaded guilty and was subsequently handed a five-year prison sentence.
NACOB further admonished the public to desist from delivering parcels on behalf of others as it has been the conduit of trafficking narcotic drugs.
