The wife of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch Youth Organizer in the Asante Mampong Constituency has been arrested by the police on suspicion of stabbing her husband to death.
Osei Akoto, the victim, a teacher who is in his 40s, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital after his partner allegedly stabbed him during a heated dispute.
Residents of the Kofi Sarpong suburb in Asante Mampong, where the couple resided, were left in disbelief by the tragic incident.
Neighbours have been disclosing after the incident that the suspect, identified only as Abigail, has been quarreling with the deceased husband for some time now, the latest one being Thursday, April 04, 2024, leading to the fatal stabbing.
The suspect has since been assisting the police with investigation in their custody whilst the crime scene is being thoroughly examined.
Hudu Mumuni Yahaya, representing the NDC in the Asante Mampong Constituency, confirmed the incident, expressing condolences and acknowledging the deceased’s contributions to the party’s local activities.
The deceased leaves behind three children and his body has been transported to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
