It has emerged that popular preacher, Nigel Gaisie, has been invited by the police over his December 31st prophecies, but this has drawn sharp criticism from a section of the public.
Reports from yesterday, Wednesday, February 23, 2022, indicate that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has approved Mr Gaisie’s invitation over his ‘Umuofia’ prophesies during the watch night service on December 31st, 2021.
The reports also said the founder of the Prophetic Hill Chapel is required to report to the police station on February 28, 2022.
“Look, I think Ghanaians must rise up in support of Prophet Nigel Gaisie against threats and intimidations against him by this Akufo Addo led govt. He has just received a call from the CID office to report on Monday over some comments he made during his usual church meetings. This is absolutely ridiculous! This is absolutely insane!” said a post by Kwabena Bobie Ansah, an outspoken journalist.

Also, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has cautioned the Ghana Police Service against what he calls an “overstepping of their bounds”, a situation arising from “zealousness”.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, an aide to former President John Mahama, added that the Police “do not have the power to regulate speech or spiritual belief and must desist from straying.”
“The Ghana Police Service is clearly overstepping their bounds. They do not have the power to regulate speech or spiritual belief and must move away from this overzealousness,” his post on social media read.
Ahead of the 2021 Watch Night services, the police issued a statement to pastors and prophets against what they described as prophecies likely to cause fear and panic.
Describing such acts as criminal and contravening the law, the police threatened to arrest and prosecute any man of God who goes ahead to issue prophecies likely to create tension and panic.
Nigel Gaisie, as widely expected, on December 31, 2021, issued several prophecies about the year 2022 on issues covering security, politics and governance among others.
The man of God referred to a town called Umuofia and alluded that his prophecies on the night were about the fictional town and not about Ghana.
Amid the report of his invitation by the police, Nigel Gaisie has made the following post on social media:
“From Ibano To Umuafia…The Elders Were Very Silent Till Okonko Killed Ikemefuna and they all WOKE UP BUT IT WAS TOO LATE…Posterity Will NEVER FORGIVE US FOR NOT STANDING UP TO THE WRONGS OF TODAY..N.B…I am only a prophet and I speak the mind of God.”
