The Okyenhene, Osagyefuor Amoatia Ofori Panin II, has purchased a Kantanka sports utility vehicle.

The one-hundred and fifty-thousand-cedi acquisition comes days after the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II's, called for patronage of the Ghanaian made vehicles, when he bought one for himself.

At a ceremony to hand over the vehicle, the Okyenhene expressed confidence in the Ghanaian car manufacturing company and urged state agencies, private institutions, and individuals to proudly by into the Kantanka brand, to push forward the company’s quest to establish a formidable local automotive industry.

“Government can buy a whole lot of these cars for the Police, Fire Service, and Immigration instead of importing Land Cruisers and when it’s faulty they have a shop to service it,”

General Manager of Kantanka Automobile Company, Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Junior, appealed to the government to grant the company a tax waiver on the importation of production materials to enable it manufacture and sell the vehicles at lower prices many Ghanaian can afford.

Kantanka Automobile Company (KAC), has over the past few years produced durable vehicles that rivals some established brands.
