Police arrest 3 for illegal possession of firearm at Ofaakor

The Ghana Police Service on Sunday, June 2, 2024, arrested three persons at Ofaakor, near Kasoa in the Central Region for possession of a firearm without lawful authority.

The suspects, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, Mustapha Mohammed and Abdul Aziz Musah onboard a Honda CRV saloon car with registration number GX-2044-19 were arrested around the EC Office at Ofaakor.

According to the police statement, one pump-action gun with four rounds of ammunition were retrieved from the vehicle.

 

The suspects are currently assisting Police investigations.

Relatedly, Imarana Abdulai Gomda was arrested in Tamale for possessing firearms and ammunition without lawful authority.

In a social media post on Friday, May 31, the Police confirmed that Gomda was arrested at the Datoyili Barrier in Tamale on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. 

During the arrest, officers retrieved two SMG rifles, six rounds of 9MM ammunition, and two empty magazines from him.
