Two burnt to death in accident at East Legon

Two young women have been reported dead following a gruesome accident that occurred on Saturday evening at East Legon, Accra.

Three others including the drivers of a Jaguar and Acura vehicles have also sustained various degrees of injuries.

According to CCTV footage, the accident was caused by overspeeding, which led to a fatal collision.

A video posted on the GNFS Facebook page shows firefighters using specialized equipment to cut through the charred remains of the vehicles, with smoke still billowing from the scene. Among the victims are two young women, whose bodies were burnt beyond recognition.

The crash reportedly occurred when one of the vehicles involved struck a wooden electric pole. The impact caused the pole’s electrical cables to fall, sparking the fire that engulfed the vehicles. Both vehicles were completely destroyed by the flames.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, leaving the East Legon community in shock. Identification of the victims is still pending.
