A clash between Police in Somanya and residents on Monday has left two persons reportedly injured.
The clash followed the arrest of the alleged leader of last Friday’s attack on the office of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) by some residents who were protesting astronomical increases in their electricity bills.
The alleged ringleader, Dindiindin Adamitey, an assemblyman, was reportedly apprehended by the Police Monday morning and and held in custody to help with investigations.
But the youth of the town, after hearing of the arrest, went on rampage, damaging a vehicle belonging to the Police in the chaos.
According to reports, the Police, according in an attempt to disperse the rampaging mob and bring the situation under control, fired warning shots.
