Former President Akufo-Addo paid a holiday visit to his predecessor, John Agyekum Kufuor, at the latter’s Peduase residence during the Easter break.

The meeting, described by Akufo-Addo as a “privilege,” highlighted the enduring rapport between the two statesmen, who have shaped decades of Ghana’s political landscape.

In a social media post shared after the encounter, Akufo-Addo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with Kufuor, whom he praised as “ever-cheerful and highly spirited.” The post read, “With Easter’s consecrated period came the privilege of meeting and conferring heartily with my boss, the former president.” While details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the visit underscored a tradition of periodic consultations between the two leaders, both stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Kufuor, 85, served as Ghana’s president from 2001 to 2009, while Akufo-Addo, 80, completed his second term in January 2025.

Their relationship, spanning mentor and protégé roles, has been pivotal in steering the NPP’s policies and electoral strategies.
