NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is proposing an extension of the periodic renewal of Drivers’ Licences from the current two years to reduce the hustle drivers go through to renew their licence.

He indicated that just like the Passport, whose validity has been extended for greater convenience, a Bawumia Presidency will extend the validity beyond the current two years.

The NPP Presidential Candidate pledged when he addressed chiefs and other stakeholders at Boadua in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region as part of his constituency-focused nationwide campaign tour.

Dr Bawumia is also proposing allocating at least 10 million dollars a year to the Geological Survey Department to help them find the actual location of minerals to curtail the current system of ‘trial and error’ exploration which is destroying the environment.

He added that when given the nod, his government will also ensure an equity stake for chiefs in future small-scale mining operations.

“Drivers are here; today, the driver’s license expires every two years. Let us extend it, be it 8 years or 10 years. Let us ensure you can have a driver’s license without renewing it every year. It does not make sense, and so by the grace of God we would make changes,” Bawumia said.
