Deputy Northern Regional Minister Nominee,Solomon Namliit Boar, has reiterated the need for Northerners to understand the need for peace in the region and the country at large.

Appearing before the Appointment Committee of Parliament on Tuesday, he said, as part of efforts to prevent disputes in the region, the people must be made to understand the impact of peace to national development and he would embark on a sensitization initiative to ensure awareness is created.

Mr. Boar who holds a Masters degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution added that "this is a national duty but I would partner with the substantive Minister and other agencies so that we could do our part to ensure a peaceful Northern region."

"Our people must understand that we are one people and it is through peace and unity that we can develop. We need to come together as a people and we would do well to communicate the message to them."

Three years ago, he said,he met the chiefs in the area and discussed the ways to ensure peace in the land which resulted in the need to set up a peace fund to support the religious and traditional rulers to preach peace in the land.

"It would be important to make time and convince the Minister and other stakeholders to accept the peace fund to sensitize the people,"he stated.

In tackling indiscipline he said, he would focus on punctuality among workers in the area as it would go a long way to help develop the country.

According to the nominee, they would work towards addressing the issue of acute shortage of water in the region by raising funds to get a water plant and also make use of the boreholes available.

He stressed that, he would work closely with the substantive Minister,Salifu Saeed and other stakeholders to develop the Northern region.
