A transition team to ensure a smooth transfer of power from President Akufo-Addo's administration to that of President-elect, John Mahama will be inaugurated on Sunday, December 11.

The transition team will be responsible for facilitating the handover process, ensuring that the incoming administration is well-prepared to take on the responsibilities of governance.
The collaboration between the outgoing and incoming governments underscores the importance of unity and cooperation in Ghana’s democratic process.
The opposition NDC's John Mahama obtained 6,328,397 votes representing 56.55% in last Saturday's general elections to beat NPP's Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who had 4,657,04 which represents 41.61% of the total ballots cast.
In a press release from the Presidency, President Akufo-Addo congratulated the President-elect on his “decisive victory” and pledged to ensure a smooth handover of power on January 7, 2025.
“I look forward to working with the President-elect and his team to realise this goal,” the President stated, reaffirming his commitment to a peaceful and seamless transfer of power.
Akufo-Addo called on all Ghanaians to unite in consolidating democracy and fostering national development. He reaffirmed his dedication to the principles of good governance and peaceful transitions, which have solidified Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.

Further to this evening’s official declaration by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, of the results of the 2024 Presidential Election, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, to congratulate him on his decisive victory in the just-ended presidential election.
President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on 7th January 2025, and looks forward to working with the President-elect and his team to realise this goal.
The President also congratulates the Electoral Commission and the Ghanaian people for a successful election that reflects the enduring strength of Ghana’s democracy.He acknowledges the commitment and participation of all stakeholders, which have ensured that the democratic process in Ghana remains credible and peaceful.
