Black Stars midfielder Afriyie Acquah, has quashed claims that he opted out of Ghana's friendly against Japan due to disagreement over appearance fees.
It was reported in the media that, the tough-tackling midfielder had decided to pull out of the game due to a slash in the team's appearance fee but Acquah say that was not the case.
“No, it was not like that but this is on TV so I cannot say exactly what happened. The story was different and our own personal thing was different. You just have to leave it like that. Football is passion. If not for the passion I had for the country, I would have told you that I will play for money. The money is not importantâ€, Afriyie said in an interview with Ghanaweb.
Ghanaians bashed the midfielder as reports emerged that he and Wakaso opted out of the friendlies because the Black Stars management had decided to slash their usual 5000 USD to 2000 USD for friendly games.
