President of Kumasi King Faisal, Alhaji Grusah has blamed Asamoah Gyan's premature retirement on the head coach of the Black Stars Kwesi Appiah.
According to the experienced football administrator, Kwesi Appiah caused a blunder by bringing up the captaincy issue when he has not named his squad for the upcoming AFCON.
Grusah further stressed that, Ghana is bigger than any individual so the Kayserispor striker exit will not be a problem for the nation.
"I will blame Akwasi Appiah for Asamoah Gyan's premature retirement because you have not named your squad for the tournament but you rush to talk about the captaincy which was wrong", he told Ashhfm.
"Asamoah Gyan has been in the team for so many years but has not won any trophy for the Nation so he can go"
"Ghana does not belong to Asamoah Gyan so he can go and I don't think Ghana will lose anything from his retirement"
Asamoah Gyan announced his retirement from the Senior National Team on Monday, May 20 on his social media handle. He remains Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 106 appearances.
