Turkish football club Besiktas have announced the termination of defender Daniel Amartey‘s contract by mutual agreement.

The decision marks the end of Amartey’s tenure with the team.

Daniel Amartey, during the 2024-2025 summer, got himself entangled with some options where he was close to joining a club in Saudi Arabia, but it was alleged that he only wanted a move to either a club in Germany or England.

“Amartey is a strange person. We made an agreement with a team from Saudi Arabia, but he did not get on the plane. We agreed with Eyüpspor; he escaped through the back door of our facilities. He said, “I will go to Germany or England.” When he was told ‘the transfer window is closed’, he said, ‘How will it close?” Besiktas spokesman Hüseyin Yücel on Daniel Amartey.

The former Leicester man responded by describing the accusations as "untrue".
