Arsenal were in top shape as they comfortably beat AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro in the knockout phase of the Europa League on Thursday, 8 March 2018.

The Gunners who had not won a game in their lastthree matches prior to this encounter put in a fine shift to claim the needed victory.

Two first-half goals from Henrihk Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey was enough to give Arsenal the all-important win as they go into the 2nd leg in a fortnight time.

In other Europa League matches, Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey's Atletico Madrid were on top of their game in Spain to claim a 3-0 victory over Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Diego Costa scored as Atletico Madrid took a huge step towards a place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Costa netted his sixth goal in 12 appearances since moving back to the Spanish side from Chelsea in January.

Saul Niguez and Koke were also on target for the 2010 and 2012 winners.
