President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Kwabena Yeboah says he feels disgraced as an African by the decision of the Ghana Football Association to reappoint Kwesi Appiah as the Coach of the Black Stars of Ghana.
Speaking to Journalists at the Launch of the SWAG Awards Night yesterday, SWAG President Kwabena Yeboah, revealed that anytime an expatriate Coach fails, African Coaches are hired to clean the mess they live behind.
“I am not surprise by the decision, but anytime an expatriate Coach comes and does not perform then we turn to an indigenous coach, I always make the point that I do not understand why African Countries will go for expatriate coaches. I personally feel insulted as an African that year after year expatriate Coaches should handle teams in Africa, I felt very embarrassed that during the last Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon we had as many as 14 expatriate Coaches in charge of African teamsâ€.
According to Primenewsghana earlier report, Kwesi Appiah has been handed a two-year contract by the Ghana Football Association after Israeli trainer Avram Grant departed the shores of Ghana as the head coach of Black Stars. Kwesi Appiah will officially begin work on the 1st of May and is set to take full responsibility of the Local Black Stars as well.
