Ghanaian defender Samuel Inkoom has been banned from playing soccer for a year by football governing body FIFA after he was found guilty of cheating an agent in 2014 over a transfer deal.

Inkoom failed to pay the agent,Andy Evans his full share of proceeds after he was transferred from Ukrainian side Dnipro three years ago,  leading to a contractual dispute between the two parties.

The 28-year-old, who currently plays for Bulgarian side FC Vereya, was ordered by the Bureau of the Players’ Status Committee on 19 March 2014 to pay the amount owed Evans or face a one year ban from the game. He was given the opportunity to pay in installment, but defaulted in payment.

On 15 December 2014, Inkoom was fined CHF 20,000 ($20,594) by the Fifa Disciplinary Committee for failing to comply with the decision of the Bureau of the Players’ Status Committee.

The Ghanaian appealed the Fifa Disciplinary Committee’s decision at CAS but the appeal was dismissed and the decision of the Disciplinary Committee confirmed in full.

Evans then requested that the one-year ban be imposed on Inkoom in accordance with the decision of the Fifa Disciplinary Committee after the final deadline granted to the player expired.

The Bulgarian Football Union has been requested to implement the ban.

However the ban would be reversed any point within the one year, if the Ghanaian footballer is able to settle the amount in full.

Unfortunately for Inkoom, his lucrative contract with Antalyaspor was mutually terminated for lack of game time forcing him to move to Bulgarian side Vereya.

Inkoom who is struggling to make a return to the national team, is currently hoping to seal a deal with Belgian side, Gent.
