Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero will miss Wednesday night's Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Argentinean forward is still out with the thigh injury that saw him miss the 3-1 Premier League win over Everton at the weekend.

"He has stayed in Manchester, he didn't come," said Guardiola at his press conference on Tuesday.

"He's been injured for the last two weeks and he still isn't fit.

"We will see if he can play in the derby (against Manchester United on Saturday)."

Guardiola also confirmed that Fabian Delph is fit again and could start at left-back.

Delph hasn't played since being sent off in the FA Cup defeat to Wigan in February.

Liverpool have injury issues of their own, with Jurgen Klopp confirming that four stars are likely to be out of the game.

"Joel (Matip) is out for the rest of the season, no doubt about that. It's very serious," said Klopp on Tuesday.

"Emre (Can) will at least be very close for tomorrow - but it doesn't look too good. Joe Gomez is not in for two or three weeks.

"Ragnar Klavan is unavailable. If there is a centre-half in the room I am open for talks!"
