After failing to win secure a semi-final slot in the Nations League tournament, Spain will now focus on Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Head coach Luis Enrique said he thinks the team is in good shape although they failed to hit their target of qualifying to the competition’s inaugural penultimate stage. England emerged 2-1 winners at Wembley to top their respective group and book the only chance available from each of the top tier groups.

"We are focusing on qualifying for Euro 2020 and I think the national team is looking good. After seeing how we started [in the UEFA Nations League] we expected to qualify, but we lost our way in Zagreb and Seville. I didn't expect the team to be at this level." Enrique said after the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina where they won 1-0.

The former Barcelona manager handed Real Madrid’s Isco the captain armband and defended his decision saying that Isco’s most numbers of caps together with his excellence and potential influenced his decision.

"The armband is anecdotal. Isco is the player with the most caps, but he has been leading the way for club and country for years. He has big potential with us and an excellent attitude. The team looks good to me. We caused problems on the wings, but it wasn't an easy game. We tried playing football, but it's always difficult against a team who have so many behind the ball." Enrique explained.
