The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has stated that government’s proposed 24-hour economy policy will be formally presented to Parliament for approval.

He announced this on Tuesday,  March 11, during the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement and economic policy to Parliament.

“The Mahama-led NDC government is committed to the pursuit of the 24-hour economy policy,” he stated.

Dr. Forson emphasized that the policy is designed to boost economic productivity by encouraging businesses to operate around the clock, ultimately creating more job opportunities and fostering sustainable economic growth.

“This initiative aligns with our broader agenda of enhancing economic opportunities and ensuring inclusivity in employment,” he explained.

He further assured Parliament that the government is putting in place measures to facilitate a smooth rollout of the policy, including incentives for businesses willing to extend their operational hours.

“As part of our economic transformation strategy, the 24-hour economy policy will serve as a catalyst for industrial expansion and investment,” he added.

Dr. Forson urged lawmakers to support the initiative when it is officially presented, stressing that its success would depend on close collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“The details of the policy will be outlined in a comprehensive framework before it is submitted to Parliament for deliberation,” he assured.
