Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited has dismissed recent social media claims alleging that the bank has been sold to a foreign investor.

The bank described these claims as “entirely false and misleading,” confirming that there has been no change in its ownership.

In a statement, the bank assured the public that the Government of Ghana remains the sole shareholder and that the reported sale of the bank is unfounded.

“There has been no change in the ownership of the Bank,” the statement read.

“We wish to state that reports of sale of the Bank are entirely false and misleading.”

The bank’s management also addressed concerns regarding customer deposits, which the social media claims had suggested were at risk.

“There is therefore no cause for concern regarding customer deposits and the Bank’s operational integrity,” the statement added.

“We assure our cherished customers that their funds are secure with the Bank, and urge the public to rely on the Bank’s official communication channels for any information.”
