The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will from today May 29 embark on a five-day nationwide revenue mobilisation exercise.

The exercise will end on Friday, June 2.

The exercise will focus on “all categories of customers in arrears including State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and will be monitored by special teams who will apprehend and prosecute customers who attempt to interfere with the exercise, and/or undertake illegal self-reconnection after disconnection,” ECG revealed in a statement..

The Company said pursuant to this, “ECG shall operate with a lean staff pool who will provide essential services to customers during the revenue mobilisation period to enable total participation by top management and staff.”

ECG, therefore, advised, “all customers in arrears to pay their bills now to avoid disconnection and payment of reconnection fees.”

The Company embarked on a month-long drive which commenced in March and ended in April.

According to the Managing Director of the Company, Samuel Mahama, they recovered some Gh¢3.1 billion out of the total Gh¢5.7 billion debt owned by customers in its previous revenue mobilisation drive.
