Ghana's National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) has been increased by 10% from GHS18.15 to GHS19.97 effective March 1, 2025, according to the National Tripartite Committee (NTC).

This is in compliance with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651).

The decision comes after discussions between the government and labor unions concluded in Accra on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

A statement noted that the increase was made after taking into account the current economic difficulties, the growing cost of living, the viability of businesses, and the objective of encouraging greater employment levels.

“All establishments, institutions, or organisations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rate should adjust accordingly effective 1st March, 2025,” the statement stated.

The statement further warned that any organization that disregards the new salary structure will be subject to legal penalties.

The NTC also suggested that the 2025 NDMW be tax-exempt in order to lessen the financial burden on minimum wage earners.
