The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has announced Kwame Ntow Amoah as its new Acting Chief Executive Officer.
He succeeds Edward Abambire Bawa, who has been reassigned as Managing Director and Group CEO of GOIL.
Mr. Amoah brings extensive leadership experience to his new role, having previously served as Deputy Chief Executive at GNPC and as Advisor to the Minister of Energy, where he also held the position of Director of Petroleum.
Throughout his career, he has been a key figure on various national, international, and industry boards and committees. Notably, he played a crucial role in international arbitration cases involving Ghana, including serving as Technical Advisor in the successful Maritime Boundary Case, which Ghana won on September 23, 2017.
His contributions have been instrumental in securing substantial investments and financing for both GNPC and the nation. He was a key player in attracting investors that helped establish Ghana as a commercial oil-producing country. Additionally, he was pivotal in securing approximately US$7 billion for the Sankofa Oil and Gas Development Project, including US$700 million in partial risk guarantees from the World Bank.
Mr. Amoah holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana. He has also completed various leadership and management training programs, along with specialized courses in energy and petroleum management.
GNPC congratulates Mr. Amoah on his appointment and is confident in his ability to lead the Corporation towards continued growth and success.
