New Ghana Civil Aviation Authority board Inaugurated

A new board for the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has been inaugurated. The inauguration was done by Ghana’s Aviation Minister, Cecelia Dapaah.

The board will provide governance for aviation activities in the country and consolidate on the initiatives of the Ministry of Aviation  in making the industry one of the best on the African continent.

It has as its Chairman, Air Commodore Rexford Acquah (Rtd), as well as the Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Simon Molai Allotey, Group Captain Eric Agyen-Frimpong and Mr. Ellis Hugh-Tamakloe as members.

Addressing the newly inaugurated board, the country’s Aviation Minister – Cecelia Dapaah said: “the vision of this ministry is to establish the Kotoka International Airport as an aviation hub in the West African Region and to position Ghana as the preferred destination of choice for travelers. One key agency that is expected to play a key role towards the achievement of the sector’s vision is the GCAA”.

Adding that, it is the expectation of government to see the new board “approach [its] work with diligence and seriousness in order to fulfill the government’s agenda of making the Kotoka International Airport an aviation hub in the sub region”.

Responding to the mandate on behalf of the entire team, Chairman of the new GCAA board - Air Commodore Rexford Acquah (Rtd) said, “We all pledge to support and do all in our ability to make sure the ministry attain the developmental objective of the aviation by the government”.
