The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has said, it does not have the mandate to publicize  on its website, the formula for determining electricity tariffs.
The comment is in reaction to Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko's call on the PURC to publicize on its website, the formula to enable consumers calculate on their own, how much they are supposed to pay.
According to the Executive Secretary of the PURC, Samuel Sarpong, the Commission can only task the Electricity Company of Ghana(ECG) and other power distribution companies to do so,
"A bill is issued by ECG or distribution company so they should put that on their website because we do not control taxes and levies,"he disclosed to Joy News.
He added that, the bill consisted of both levies, tariffs and taxes, so it was up to the ECG to put them together to arrive at the consumers monthly consumption.
The ECG he said, would be directed by the PURC to publicize on its website the formula to enable customers make a fair estimation of their monthly bills, based on consumption.
