The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is set to host the 4th edition of the Financial Innovation and Enterprise (FIE2023) Conference.
The FIE Conference is a global annual gathering of industry leaders, scholars, policymakers and entrepreneurs.
It aims to foster research-based dialogue and knowledge sharing as catalysts for change in the financial and entrepreneurial sectors.
The FIE 2023 Conference is jointly convened by the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Birmingham City University, the University of Sunderland in London, and the Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE).
The two-day international conference themed “Promoting Sustainable Enterprises in Developing and Emerging Economies” is scheduled to take place from December 14–15, 2023, at the UPSA campus.
The conference reflects UPSA’s vision of nurturing innovative and sustainable financial practices in emerging economies while reiterating the university’s commitment to creating platforms that facilitate meaningful exchanges leading to tangible changes in both the public and private sectors.
“This year, we are privileged to host the conference in Ghana, marking the first time this event is being held outside the United Kingdom,” said Professor John K. M. Mawutor, Provost of UPSA and Chairperson of the FIE Planning Committee.
“This prestigious event is a testament to UPSA’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and practical knowledge in the financial sector,” he stressed.
Areas for discussion include emerging issues in finance, enterprise and innovation; entrepreneurial education and training, as well as sustainable entrepreneurial finance.
“By hosting FIE 2023, UPSA further underscores its dedication to promoting sustainable enterprises, especially in developing and emerging economies,” UPSA’s Deputy Public Affairs Director and a member of the FIE 2023 Conference Planning Committee, Ms. Ivy Heward-Mills says.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with world-class speakers and experts, including Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, Vice-Chancellor of UPSA; Hon. Abena Osei-Asare, Deputy Minister of Finance; and Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi, Second Deputy Governor, Bank of Ghana.
Other confirmed speakers are Professor Eileen McAuliffe, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean at Birmingham City University; Dr. Richard Ampofo Boadu, Administrator, Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund); and Mr. Kwame Osei-Prempeh, MD and Group CEO, Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL).
