Bashiru Gambo, a Ghanaian rapper, songwriter and singer, has expressed his desire to change certain aspects of the Ghanaian music industry.
According to him, music videos and their productions are of poor quality and notes that they need improvement.
Speaking from personal experience, he stated that doing music in Ghana is very expensive, especially if you want to establish a brand.
"If anyone wants to shoot a music video, they just pick a camera, get a black and white background, some girls in hot swimsuits with red cups or they'll be walking in the streets rapping, and that's basically a Ghanaian music video," Gambo explained.
Before someone can export their video, according to the rapper, they must break away from the traditional Ghanaian style of shooting videos.
He went on to say, "It's time we prove to the international world that whatever they're doing in music, we can do as well."
Speaking about a trend he noticed on Twitter, where some guys posted a video and some UK influencers commented, "How come these guys are in front of cameras, aren't they supposed to be hungry?" he said that was very unfortunate.
“I believe this is because we, as Ghanaians, do not always demonstrate how beautiful our country is. Most of the time, they go to the hood to create their music videos, creating that impression about us. He believes that if these and other issues are addressed, the industry will improve and the country will be sold more effectively to other countries,†he said.
