Artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has criticised Ghanaian artistes for poor marketing of their songs.

Speaking on Wednesday, September 22, as part of the pundits on the Showbiz Review section of DayBreakHitz, he said his utmost disappointment in the industry was how some Ghanaian artistes like to be given everything on a silver platter.

Mr. Logic said Ghanaians are missing out on the strategy that other artistes in other countries use to sell their songs.

“There’s something called playlisting and chart listing. The marketing guys in the music industry are supposed to help push the songs. But they have to be paid in order to do that,” he stated.

He went on to say that he believes the problem is not about the Ghanaian songs not being played but that the Ghanaian music industry is poor.

He referred to what Shatta Wale had said earlier about the lack of finances in the Ghanaian music industry.

“We don’t take the marketing of music seriously. If you ask a Ghanaian artiste to pay 1,500 dollars to pitch a song on a playlist, he won’t do it. How many Ghanaian artistes can afford to pay 3,000 dollars to pitch their playlist on a chart?” he quizzed.

Mr Logic mentioned that upcoming artistes especially need to have their songs pitched, instead they just share their songs on charts and leave them there.

His comments also follow a recent comment by D Black that the typical Ghanaian did not like to listen to songs by a Ghanaian artiste.

D Black had posted on social media the following question: how do we touch the rest of the world if our top 20 songs on Apple Music are 18 Nigerian songs.
