Ghanaian actor and television host, Joselyn Dumas, has questioned why the government seems hell-bent on passing the electronic levy bill now.

The electronic levy has been in the trend since last year for the worst reasons.

Most politicians, celebrities, and Ghanaians have shown utmost displeasure against the tax regime that will be charged on some mobile money and bank transactions.

In a Twitter post sighted by Prime News, the actor complained of many taxes that are already in place in the country yet the country still cries for foreign aid.

Joselyn further asked what the revenues generated from those taxes are being used for and why the need for the E-Levy now.

“We’re being taxed for so many things utility bills, goods & services, company operations (GRA), etc… So where does the money go? Yet we owe. Then #ELevy? … in such obviously hard times?” she wrote.

Although the masses are speaking against the e-levy, the government has stated that it is the surest way to save the economy of Ghana from collapsing.

President Nana Akuffo-Addo has said the country cannot depend on foreign aid forever and E-levy is the policy that will ensure the country’s economic freedom.
