The management of music star King Paluta has formally written to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board to express their disappointment over exclusion of “Makoma” song in this year’s awards.

The 2025 TGMA nominees were released on Saturday, with King Paluta receiving many nominations for Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Highlife Artiste of the Year, and Best Highlife Song, among others.

However, most of these nominations were earned by his “Aseda” song, which featured on his “Give Time Some Time” album.

According to a petition signed by King Paluta’s management, “Makoma” was duly filed for Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song, and Songwriter of the Year.

“We humbly write to your honourable board to demand some explanations in connection with the snub of Makoma by King Paluta, a song we duly submitted for consideration which we believe remains Ghana’s most popular song released under the year under review, generating the most excitement among music lovers to date,” excerpts of the petition said.

King Paluta’s management added that they have raised these issues after none of the categories they filled with “Makoma” were considered by the TGMA board.

“We believe in the competence of the TGMA board and trust that a convincing reason be issued to our team, music enthusiasts and general public on this unpopular decision of the board.

“We are confident that “Makoma” breaches no moral or ethical requirement of the board and will be ready to engage for possible consideration of the song in the categories submitted earlier,” the petition said.
