Veteran Ghanaian actor Mawuli Semevo has passed away after sustaining severe burns in a domestic fire at his residence in Adenta SSNIT Flats, Accra.
He was asleep in his home when a fire broke out, engulfing him in flames.
Mr. Semevo passed on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, where he was undergoing treatment.
He was 63 years old.
On February 8, 2025, Beyond Burns International, a non-profit organization, disclosed that the late actor had sustained burns on 44% of his body, along with severe respiratory injuries that made breathing difficult.
The burns extended from his head to his legs, and he lost all his hair.
Some colleagues rallied for support to aid his recovery, but he succumbed to the injuries.
Mr. Semevo is widely celebrated for his outstanding performances in both stage and film productions.
He is credited for his roles in Harvest at 17, A Stab in the Dark, Escape of Love, Like Cotton Twines, YOLO TV series, and The Good Old Days: The Love of AA.
