Galamsey: UTAG declares nationwide strike effective October 10

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has initiated an indefinite strike starting today, October 10, 2024, following a strong vote in favor of industrial action aimed at supporting a national ban on mining and prospecting activities in ecologically sensitive regions.

Air condition installer handed 20 years for defilement 

A 40-year-old air condition installer, Joshua Arhin, has been handed 20 years imprisonment in hard labour by the Tarkwa Circuit Court, for defiling a 13-year-old girl at Booboobo in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.  

GMA opts out of organised labour's nationwide strike

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) says it has not declared a roadmap for industrial action and will therefore not be part of the nationwide strike declared by organised labour on the Galamsey menace.
