157 cholera cases have been recorded as at November 1, in the Cape Coast metropolis although no lives have perished.
Director of Public Health Services at the Health Ministry, Dr. Badu Sarkodie stated a team has been deployed to the metropolis to contain the situation form breaking to other areas.
Cape Coast experienced its recent cholera outbreak on October 21, at the Cape Coast Hospital and Teaching Hospital.
Unsafe drinking water, open defecation and consumption of contaminated food have all been cited as causes for the recent outbreak.
According to Dr. Badu Sarkodie, clear protocols have been activated to contain the situation.
Deputy Minster of Health, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe stressed government’s commitment to resolving the outbreak without it extending to other townships. He called on the media to help sensitize the citizenry on right hygiene practices.
