Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has assured the public that the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be released by December 29, 2024.
This announcement came during a working visit to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) printing facility, where Dr. Adutwum inspected progress and addressed concerns over the delayed release of results.
WAEC attributed the delay to the breakdown of scanners essential for processing the results, a challenge exacerbated by the government’s outstanding debts, which hindered the repair or purchase of new equipment.
To address these issues, the Ministry of Education allocated GH¢25 million to WAEC, aimed at improving its printing processes and ensuring timely delivery of results.
Speaking after his visit, Dr. Adutwum expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts by WAEC staff to meet the new timeline.
“This morning, we visited WAEC, and we have been taken around. They are working, and by December 29 or before, the results of our exams will be out so that universities can go about their job of making sure our students will also be given admission to pursue their various degree and diploma programmes,” Dr. Adutwum stated.
Accompanied by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Dr. Adutwum commended WAEC staff for their dedication, especially during the holiday season, to ensure the timely release of the results.
“We are satisfied with the level of preparation and the work being done by WAEC. We are grateful for their service and for the fact that even during this break, they have staff here working around the clock to ensure that the results will be released for our students to continue with their education,” he added.
The timely release of the WASSCE results is expected to facilitate smooth admissions processes for students pursuing higher education in universities and diploma programs across the country.
