Mrs Catherine Abelema Afeku, the Minister for Tourism, has appointed President Nana Akufo-Addo's daughter, Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, to the newly inaugurated Creative Arts Council.
Mrs Afeku inaugurated the council on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017, in a short meeting at the Ministry of Tourism.
Along with Miss Akufo-Addo, Mrs Afeku also nominated Mark Okraku Mantey, a producer and programs manager at Hitz FM, to preside over the council as its president.
Also nominated to the council by the Tourism Minister was actress Bibi Bright, who will be acting as the council's secretary.
According to Madam Afeku, the three members nominated to the council will be in charge of selecting the remaining members of the council, as well as set up the proper framework for the council.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, will today present the 2017 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament.
The Budget Statement, the first of President Nana Akufo-Addo's government is expected to focus on stimulating growth and job creation through private sector development.
According to a statement from the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Finance, "it [budget] will aim at getting Ghana working again".
The budget would include measures to restore fiscal discipline and good economic governance, transparent and accountable use of public resources in accordance with the new Public Financial Management Law and to provide a credible basis for economic policy clarity going forward, the statement added.
