Minister-designate for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen on Monday failed to categorically answer a question on whether he declared his assets as an ambassador and a minister during the Kufuor administration.

Answering a question during his turn at the vetting of ministerial nominees by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, he said he did not remember whether he declared his assets as a public officer or not.

"I am sure I declared my assets as a public officer if it was a public requirement but I can't remember", he stated when Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka referred him to Article 286, the provision in the 1992 Constitution which enjoins public officers to make such declarations before they take office and when leaving office.

Mr Kyerematen served as Ghana's Ambassador to the United States between 2001-2003 and also as a Trade and Industry Minister from 2003-2007 when left government to contest for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and would have been expected to have declared his assets three times.
