The Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA) has released a list of flood-prone areas and their corresponding safe havens in Accra for residents to take note prior to the heavy rains.
 The flood-prone areas include Laterbiorkoshie, Osu, Bubuashie, South Odorkor, Mpoase, Korle-Bu, Arena, Legon, Dansoman, Mataheko, North Kaneshie.
Most of the corresponding safe havens for shelter are schools and parks residents can access in the event of severe flooding, especially in their homes or workplaces.
Meanwhile, government has said it has committed 200 million Ghana cedis to de-silting major drains such as the Odaw and Korle lagoons, South Kaneshie drain, Sukura drain, Odorkor drains, etc in order to minimize the occasion of severe flooding in parts of the Capital.
"In terms of commitment from government, about 200 million Ghana cedis has been committed to these projects: 5 million towards de-silting, 195 million towards excavation projects which will commence very shortly, just after the rains.†Mr. Boakye-Antwi stated.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Agency has warned that there will be heavy rainfall this year, especially in the Southern sector.
The Director of Research at the Agency, Charles Kweku York, announced that this year’s rains would be greater than what was recorded in 2017.
