The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has discontinued the ambulance case against former Majority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and businessman Richard Jakpa.
This was communicated in a notice issued by the Attorney-General’s chambers on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
“PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Republic having previously served notice of appeal to appeal to the Court against the judgment delivered by the Court of Appeal on the 30th day of July 2024 hereby give(s) you NOTICE that the Republic does not intend further to prosecute the appeal, but that the Republic abandons all further proceedings with respect to this matter as from the date of this notice,” the Attorney-General wrote.
The Court of Appeal had previously acquitted and discharged Dr. Ato Forson and Mr. Jakpa in July 2024. Additionally, the court overturned the trial court’s order for Dr. Ato Forson to present his defense.
