If you thought the flagbearer of Ghana Freedom Party, had finally retired from public life to her farms, think again, she is back in full flight to mourn Major Maxwell Adam Mahama in style.
Akua Donkor, was very much present in her full mourning regalia at the Burma camp residence of the slain soldier, to commiserate with the family during the one week observation of his demise on Monday.
The GFP founder who has never been able to contest an election, because her nomination forms have been consistently rejected by the Electoral Commission, has not featured much in public events since the elections.
This is mainly because the Akufo-Addo administration has not given her any prominence whatsoever, a sharp contrast to the outgone Mahama administration, which hailed and adored her to the extent she went on foreign trips, as part of the government delegation.
Indeed, the GFP flagbearer who said in the run up to the 2016 elections that former President Mahama had gifted her a house and car, complained bitterly that President Akufo-Addo, whom she heavily criticised during the electioneering campaign, failed to give her an invitation to the presidential inauguration on January 7, 2017.
At the one week observation ceremony, Akua Donkor, known for her comical way of speaking and making outrageous promises, such as buying all journalist cars and making utilities free of charge for all Ghanaians if she became president, did not miss the opportunity to draw attention to herself.
Though she has in several interviews said she could not read or write English or any local language, she gallantly walked to the book of condolences opened in memory of Major Mahama to pen a message.
It would be interesting to find out what language her message was written in and the message she put on paper in memory of the fallen soldier.
