Sam George, Minister-designate for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, says the anti-LGBTQ bill will be reintroduced in 9th Parliament in hope for presidential assent.

The anti-LGBTQ bill was first introduced under the erstwhile Nana Addo administration by Sam George, who is the Member of Parliament of Ningo-Prampram, and other members of the House.

It was passed awaiting presidential assent but the Ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo failed to sign it, raising legal issues.

Responding to questions on his position on the bill and whether or not it will be signed by the current President, John Dramani Mahama, especially following the President's statement that the bill has expired after the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, Sam George stressed; "My position is that that bill is a criticial part of our national life. Ghanaian family values, our children's innocence must be protected".

He pledged to revisit the bill, stating "in this 9th Parliament, that bill will be reintroduced either as a Private Members' Bill or as government's bill. I will work with government if it is government bill".

"If it is not and it is my bill, I will bring back again because my Chief seated, the Chiefs from Ningo and Prampram, supported me in bringing that bill in the 8th Parliament. They've asked me to reintroduce in the 9th Parliament, I will do so", he added.
